Poetry Workshop at Whittle School & Studios!

According to their website, Whittle School & Studios is the first high school of it's kind, opening campuses around the world where students can pursue their passions and achieve their highest potential.

Whittle prides itself on exploring education beyond the traditional textbook method. On Friday February 31st, I was invited to lead a workshop on identity at Whittle School & Studios in Washington, D.C.

In Dr. Stacie Tate's 10th Grade Humanities classroom, we explained the history of our names, read children's books, annotated poems about culture, practiced writing portraits of each other, and more.

During acceleration time, students had the opportunity to sit one-on-one with me and edit poems, practice performance, and talk about a career in poetry.
